June 24, 1918 flight from Montreal to Toronto by Capt. Brian Beck, RAF in a Curtiss JN-4 "Canuk". The flight was scheduled for the 23rd., but due to weather, was flown on the 24th. The plane made stops for gas at Kingston & Desoronto. It reached Toronto at 4.55 p.m., after a flight of almost 6 hours. Covers were backstamped in Toronto the same day. A triangular cachet was applied in red. Cachet is faint, but easily read. Only 124 covers were flown. Catalogue value in "The Air Mails Of Canada & Newfoundland" US$2000.00. A great show piece. Minor tear at upper right. | |
