Plane took off September 6, 1927. An SOS was sent at 3.57 am. Wreckage discovered September 12 but there was no sign of the crew. An interesting piece of US aviation history.

Was retrieved by the Ostmark & returned to Bathurst where it was delayed for 73 hours. The plane was the DO-18 Aeolus. Mails were transferred to the DO-18 Pampero. Cover was mailed at Hamburg July 28, 1937 & has a Brazil receiver on the back dated Aug. 3, 1937. Catalogues 70 pounds in the South Atlantic Air Mail Service 1934-9 catalogue by Graue & Duggan.
