U.S.A. August 16, 1927 cover mailed at Jersy City, NJ to fly to Rome via "Old Glory".
Cover missed the flight as take off was moved to Old Orchard Beach in Maine. Plane
took off September 6, 1927. An SOS was sent at 3.57 am. Wreckage discovered September 12
but there was no sign of the crew.
An interesting piece of US aviation history.

DLH flight L265 from Frankfurt. Due to engine trouble, the plane landed at sea 374 km.
from Bathurst. Was retrieved by the Ostmark & returned to Bathurst where it was
delayed for 73 hours. The plane was the DO-18 Aeolus. Mails were transferred to the
DO-18 Pampero. Cover was mailed at Hamburg July 28, 1937 & has a Brazil receiver
on the back dated Aug. 3, 1937. Catalogues 70 pounds in the South Atlantic Air Mail Service 1934-9 catalogue by Graue & Duggan.
