Cover from the attempted flight by Cotton. Halifax mail was sent by mail to Botwood on November 27, 1921. Flight was delayed till December 10. Engine trouble forced the plane to land at Deer Lake. Plane returned to Botwood & mail was sent to Halifax by surface. Halifax Feb.4, 1922 receiver on back. Stamp is the no dot after 1921 variety.

Australia December 3, 1941 4/- rate cover to Ottawa, Canada, with a "California Clipper" handstamp. By the time this cover made it to New Zealand all Clipper service had been cancelled due to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour. Cover probably sent by sea to either Panama or the US west coast and then on by air from there. Some minor tears and creases, but still and attractive military cover sent to an Australian Air Force pilot. Ottawa MPO NO.304 backstamp January 5, 1942.
